In 2017, servers and bartenders in Maine fought to save the state’s tip credit. We were supported in our effort by Republicans and Democrats in the state legislature. Jared Golden was in the state legislature at the time, and had a front-row seat to this fight. He’s now our Representative in Congress, and assured many of us that he “got it” on this issue.

But this week, Rep. Golden voted for HR 582, which would eliminate the tip credit in Maine and every other state. Rep. Pingree voted for it, too.

If you’re angry, write Reps. Golden and Pingree and ask: Why didn’t you stand with Maine’s tipped workers and stand up for the tip credit?
